CRP Sets Executive Committee Location

The California Republican Party has called a highly unusual meeting of its Executive Committee for Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Sacramento Convention Center. CRP Chairman Ron Nehring called the meeting to deal with massive GOP grassroots discontent over the California budget deal and its progeny, the propositions on the May 19th special election ballot. The CRP Executive Committee is the only entity that can act for the Party between conventions.
Think anyone will notice the meeting? The venue here is a big clue. We usually hold our rare Executive Committee meetings in a small hotel room. But the Sacramento Convention Center??? Sounds like Chairman Ron is a believer in talk radio. I was listening to John and Ken on KFI radio yesterday as they strongly encouraged the Chairman and leadership of the CRP to oppose the special election ballot measures. My guess is that everyone in northern California will have heard about the April 18th meeting by next week from John and Ken's counterparts up there. This'll be one interesting meeting.........
Thousands of Republicans all across California have been calling on Party leaders to take a stand on Propositions 1A through 1F. As a Regional Vice Chairman for the Party, I voted on the Board of Directors in favor of calling the Executive Committee meeting. As a Member of the Executive Committee, I plan on voting against every single one of the propositions on April 18th. As a citizen, I will vote against them again at the ballot box on May 19th.
My prediction is the voters will reject all of them except 1F, which appears to punish legislators. This will hopefully cause our spend-happy "representatives" in Sacramento to realize that denial is more than just a river, and finally take a machete to the auto-pilot spending increases built into our derelict budgeting system.
The calls and emails I've received to date have been overwhelmingly opposed to all of the ballot measures. While I can't repeat most of the language they use on this family friendly website, the gist is that they would like those who voted to place this on the ballot to do something physically impossible with themselves.
We need to stop the liberal Democrats in Sacramento from doing the aforementioned to the entire Golden State. Please vote on May 19th, but do more than that - volunteer to help the Republican Party rebuild and turn the rascals out of office next year.

April 18th seems awfully late to decide on opposing the propositions. If past performance is any indicator, the CRP Executive Committee will adopt some weasel words opposing the propositions with the knowledge that it will be too late since the momentum is already against them and it would be so late as to make spending money on opposing the measures meaningless. That way, they can have their cake and eat it too. Big business will be pleased and some of the grassroots might be taken in as well.
