NAIVE PRESIDENT FAILS AGAIN AS BRAZIL SIGNS LUCRATIVE CONTRACT WITH CHINA

Ah, the mighty Obamadollar. You know the currency of which I speak; our president throws it around with the reckless abandon of a drunken sailor. He uses it to polarize a nation. He does his Socialistic best to take it from those who have worked hard and earned it honestly – only to redistribute it to those whom he urges to hate “big corporations” and “the rich.” Like all good Democrats, Barack Obama uses money – borrowed money – to divide America.

Our “sophisticated” and “worldly” president also uses Obamadollars to influence international friends and enemies alike. While his naive adventures in influence peddling are commonplace and have largely failed, every once in awhile one of those failures is so spectacular that it deserves more than a passing rolling of the eyes and an obligatory “I told you so.”

This is one of those times, America. The story begins in 2009, with Obama enthusiastically committing a minimum of $2 billion to oil exploration – offshore drilling, no less. What’s wrong with that, you ask? The commitment – and the Obamadollars –  went to Brazil.

The Regime enthusiastically agreed to lend billions of Obamadollars to Brazil’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, for the exploration of a huge offshore discovery in Brazil’s Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin.

Irrespective of one’s views on U.S. offshore drilling, is this corporate foreign aid not odd, given that the U.S. Treasury is desperate for cash and Petrobras is one of the largest corporations in the Americas? (Not to mention Obama’s view that large corporations – particularly energy corporations – are inherently evil.)

The stupendous miscalculations this man makes are incredible. He leaves American oil (and jobs) in the ground. He kills the Keystone Pipeline – and thousands of more jobs – while alienating Canada and forcing it to sell the oil to China in the process. But Brazil? Hell Yeah.

“We want to work with you. We want to help with technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely, and, when you’re ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers.”

Seriously? A wing and a prayer? Careful, Mr. President – your naivete is showing again.

Less than a month after Obama did everything but kiss Brazil on the lips, President Dilma Rousseff was off to Beijing to sign oil contracts with two huge state-owned Chinese oil companies. The deals are part of a growing relationship between the two countries that gives China greater influence over Brazilian oil. China: 1, US: 0. (Oops – I forgot about Keystone: China: 2, US: 0.)

Can you imagine being CEO of a company and committing billions of (borrowed) dollars to another company – with no more than “hope” that said company will reciprocate and do business with you? Is this the “hope” that Mr. Obama talked about in 2008? Is this the "change" he promised us?

Can you also imagine what Obama would say about a corporation and its management team that signed away billions of dollars with no guarantee of return?

America can no longer afford your “hope and change,” Mr. President.

Brazilian Oil to China

Obama needs to remove the pipeline from his butt to his brain. Once again our fearless non-leader has screwed the US consumer by loaning (giving) money that we "borrow" from China to Brazil so that they can sell the oil to guess who? China. What a freaking moron. I can't believe that nearly 50 percent of the people in this country would even think about reelecting this idiot who makes Jimmy Carter look like a genius. And don't believe a word he said about pushing domestic oil and gas exploration in his State of the Union speech. It’s all talk because his EPA will be out there throwing roadblocks at every opportunity. If he was serious about this he would approve the Keystone pipeline. After all they have a 10,000 page EIS that says there is no problem with the pipeline. He and Hillary ought to sit down and read the report before rushing to judgment. Oh, I forgot, reading is something that democraps don't do, they just act without reading the report or the bill or whatever suits their needs at the time.

The loan may have come form the Import/exportBank, but Obama did go to Brazil and did take credit for the loan.

“We want to work with you. We want to help with technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely, and, when you’re ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers.” --Barak Obama

Unfortunately, as the article points out, Brazil appears to be selling the oil extracted with equipment that was purchased with a US "Loan" to PETOBAS, to CHINA!!!!! Why couldn't PETROBAS jsut get their loan form China?

Even if the Import-Export Bank made the loan, it was Obama who went to Brazil and took credit for it. This implies that he had something to do with it. While he was blocking drilling in the Gulf after the accident, he loaned money to PETROBAS, which used the money to bring the drilling platforms frm the Gulf to Brazil. Now the oil that Obama was guaranteeing that we would be their best customer for is now going to China. Why didn't PETROBAS just go to China for the loan in the first place?

Once again, this president showed that he is clueless when it comes to economics and the world of big business. The incompetence of this adminstration is manifested in stupid moves.

Liberals want it both ways!

You people are hysterical; your president has been in office three years - yet the economy continues to be "Bush's fault." Your president trumpets his financial support of Brazilian oil exploration - and you rush to separate him from it. WAY TOO FUNNY. Um, and hypocritical, too.

It was a loan so they could

It was a loan so they could spend the money on US equipment and supplies. And Brazil has their own oil company. They don't have to rely on us or any other country to drill in their own backyard. And I don't see that the big oil companies are acting in any patriotic way benefiting our economy that we should subsidize them. The oil economy and prices are based on world demand - it is not a game that we control.

Shouldn't we get at least a part of the pie in selling them the equipment and services?

I'm sure you're ever so happy to buy a cell phone then have the company tell you what you can do with it.

And please look up the issues with air quality in China that their government lies about (our embassy measures it in Beijing and they know China is lying) - that are so bad that they are sickening their population and raising asthma rates sky high. Then bash the EPA.

Excuse me Isis, but...

... Export-Import bank is a vehicle of the US Government, founded by Democrat FDR via Executive Order, is a US Govt corporation, and is currently headed by an Obama appointee who raised campaign cash for him. (google it) Brazil is doing what's best for Brazil by shopping for the best deal, while Barry is doing what's best for his Socialist Liberal minions of Saul Alinsky.

Just sayin'

Brazil never got 2 billion

Brazil never got 2 billion dollars. The loan actually came from JPMorgan Chase, but was backed by Ex-Im. Petrobras has only taken 380 million. And the loan deal actually expired in April 2011. So many clueless people with the Internet at their fingertips.

So many clueless?

As is usually the case, another liberal misses the point: The Obama Regime GUARANTEED a $2 billion loan, did it not? So many "less-than-informed" with the "internet at their fingertips."

i enjoy your article. great
