This online story from two days ago is now a FRONT PAGE OC REGISTER LOCAL Section story today. Read it. The article connects a lot of dots of the politically powerful in Orange County. But this is why I am running for County Supervisor. To end the nepotism, pension spiking, "I'll hire you if you hire me" mentality and the liability exposure to the taxpayer for putting incompetent politically connected people into important government positions. Enough already!
When I exposed the former Speaker of the State Assembly for trying to orchestrate the early release of repeat felons from state prison, I was sent to the Assembly's Dog House (the office reserved for Republicans who would not fall in line; past notables include Bill Campbell, Curt Pringle, Bonnie Garcia and Jim Battin). My colleagues in the Republican Caucus presented me a signed set of Everlast boxing gloves and continued me in my role as Chief Republican Whip on the Floor of the Assembly. I was our caucus' chief policy spokesperson because I do not run from a fight and I call it like I see it.
My quote at the end of the article makes it simple to understand regarding a now disgraced Williams: "He went into government for the wrong reason--a paycheck and a pension....And he's staying for the absolutely the wrong reasons--a pension and a paycheck."
Only in government can a pension spiking bureacrat believe that, despite being stripped of all powers to do his job, he is still entitled to full salary and benefits.

It also seems there are a few layers yet to be peeled on this particular onion...
Go Todd Go!
You are the type of politician we need at the county! Keep it up and so glad to see so many of our great leaders in OC have endorsed you!
What an egomaniac
Thanks for this post, if only as a reminder as to why people were scared to death at the prospect of this egomaniacal media hound being the District Attorney.
Anyone who followed Todd's record as Supervisor knows he is in no position to posture about backroom deals and rewarding friends with county contracts. And that crack about "pension-spiking bureaucrats" is the ultimate in hypocrisy coming from a Mr. 3-at-50.
God help us from a re-run of Todd Spitzer on the BOS.
"It is my unwavering
"It is my unwavering successful efforts for two decades as a prosecutor and elected official to get to the bottom of government corruption that has the backroom power brokers concerned."
LOL! Does Spitzer writes this stuff himself?
More than that, does he actually believe it? Incredible.
Todd: You have obviously
Todd:
You have obviously been spending way too much time at the Charie Sheen/Lindsey
Lohan Home for the Reality Adverse. First, John Williams cannot be stripped of his duties as an elected official, so you are wrong there. Second, if you read the new county organizational chart, John Williams is still the Public Guardian, he simply reports to Tom Mauk. Strike Two. Third, there has been no evidence - you remember evidence from law school, right - of wrong doing only speculation driven by narcissitic politicians who cannot hold a job and, thus, are forced to run for office. (how many misdeameanor traffic cases did you lose and how many firms are clamoring for you to come work for them). Strike Three, you are out.
