School Vouchers Defeated In Georgia

State Senator Eric Johnson (R-Savannah) had proposed a bill that would extend the current Georgia school voucher to a larger audience and of course the government school teachers couldn't allow such a thing to go forward. They began lobbying hard against it and as a result the bill has been pulled.

Funny ain't it how teachers and the teachers union will argue vociferously for tax dollars to fund them but if those precious dollars are going to go to fund what they view as the competition they get mobilized like nobody's business. I wish people would remember this whenever these same educators get on their band wagon and start talking about how they only have the best interests of the children in mind whenever they are pushing for their pay raises, increased tax dollars for their favorite projects or for whatever perceived ill they feel they are suffering from.

These are the same folks who oppose merit pay for teachers, because after all that may imply that not all teachers are equal.

Congress recently stumbled when it was revealed that a school voucher program for the DC area would be axed under a proposal from the Obama administration.

So who really has the best interests of your children in mind?
