Dems Are Chasing Phantoms

By Christian Milord | 07/13/09

Atty. Gen. Eric Holder and Senators Durbin, Feinstein, and Leahy are up to their old tricks again as they seek a probe into a plan that never was carried out.  First, these politicians are being urged by the Left to prosecute State Dept. policymakers who authorized enhanced interrogation techniques used on a small number of Gitmo terrorists.  It turns out the methods were legal,... read more »

An Alternative Healthcare Plan

By Christian Milord | 07/12/09

Groucho Marx once quipped, "Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies."  This observation could fit Pres. Obama and his team to a T, since they never allow a "crisis" to fester. On top of all the reckless spending in the past six months, Obama and most Democrats are in a hurry to cram a single payer healthcare system down our... read more »

Obama's Sleight Of Hand

By Christian Milord | 07/12/09

As the G8 Summit wrapped up, Pres. Obama observed that a "lasting recovery is still a ways off," and he noted that "reckless actions by a few have fueled a recession that spans the globe."  While he was realistic on the first point, he didn't name the "few" that played primary roles in triggering recessionary trends. Apparently, Obama believes that reckless actions were carried out by business... read more »

Palin's Decision-- Brilliant, or Foolhardy?

By Christian Milord | 07/03/09

Why is Gov. Sarah Palin stepping down July 26th with about fifteen months left in her term?  As a household name since Aug. 2008, Palin might have grown too big for Alaskans to handle, and perhaps she needs a heftier challenge.  Is it a smart move to resign before she finishes her four-year term?  Or does Palin hope to get a huge jumpstart on 2010 (Senate race), or 2012 and 2016 (presidential... read more »

Stuart Smalley Invades Senate

By Christian Milord | 07/02/09

Stuart Smalley (Al Franken) narrowly squeaked by Norm Coleman in Minnesota's wacky US Senate election contest after months of legal maneuvering.  Smalley should have stuck with films and his SNL routine, where he was more amusing than he has been as a political activist and pundit.   This joker's recent claim to fame has amounted to ad hominem attacks against George... read more »

Iraqi Progress, Or Stalemate?

By Christian Milord | 06/30/09

We haven't heard much about Iraq these days, since most attention has been focused on frenetic domestic policy legislation and volatile events in Iran.  Today, the Iraqi people and our brave troops reached another milestone in the evolution of post-Saddam Iraq.  Our troops have withdrawn from all urban bases and now are based further out in rural areas.  Some military trainers will remain in the cities.  Pres.... read more »

Kudos To Five Justices

By Christian Milord | 06/30/09

Kudos to Justices Alito, Kennedy, Roberts, Scalia, and Thomas for upholding the American values of hard work and merit in the Ricci vs. DiStefano case.  In a 5-4 vote, these wise Supreme Court justices rejected the identity politics of Justices Breyer, Ginsburg, Souter, and Stevens.  However, in America this legal decision should have been a 9-0 vote. Unsurprisingly, when this case was being heard in a lower court, Sonia... read more »
