Facts and a Myth
By Christian Milord | 06/14/08
To a degree, the Democrats have made age, gender, and race an issue in Campaign 2008. Due to that reality, it might help to examine some facts, and a myth regarding some firsts in this campaign.Hillary Clinton is the first woman in American history to have made it as far as she did in the race for the presidency. She didn't miss the Democratic nomination by much, and she can still wield a measure of influence.John... read more »

Liberals Mostly Wrong, Libertarians Half Right
By Christian Milord | 06/06/08
In recent years, liberals (not classical liberals) have turned leftward and often view government as the first resort in solving social problems, while our founders intended it to be the last option if other solutions fail.Instead of fighting for pet causes through elections, liberals often turn to the courts in order to find activist judges that will issue judicial decrees. Many liberals ignore the fact that the duty of a judge is to... read more »

OBAMA: The Hollow Man
By Christian Milord | 05/31/08
Do you ever get the nagging feeling that Sen. Obama would almost always take the easy way out? If he hasn't taken determined steps toward maturity by now, it's unlikely he will ever choose to grow up. Beyond his soaring rhetoric there is little in the way of substance built on core moral principles.Obama's "substance" appeals to a minority of Americans who find that growing up is too hard. Perhaps for folks on... read more »

THEY DIED SO FREEDOM CAN LIVE
By Christian Milord | 05/26/08
Although many folks look forward to barbecues, the beach, or other family activities during the Memorial Day weekend, this special holiday has an interesting history. "The muffled drum's sad roll has beat The soldier's last tattoo; No more on life's parade shall meet That brave and fallen few. On Fame's eternal camping-ground Their silent tents to... read more »

OBAMA: It Should Come Naturally
By Christian Milord | 05/21/08
If Sen. Obama were a genuine American leader it should be natural to avoid morally bankrupt individuals such as Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright, and God knows how many other shady characters. He's running away from them now due to withering criticism of questionable associations, combined with his ambition for the presidency. It should come natural to be patriotic about this great nation that has given Obama so much.... read more »

What is an Infidel?
By Christian Milord | 05/10/08
It is both amusing and troubling that several clerics and teachers in Muslim communities around the globe still use the word "infidel" (unbeliever) to describe folks that refuse to accept a medieval, stark worldview. At times this condescending term is used against moderate Muslims, or Muslims who voluntarily convert to another religion. However, In most cases it refers to people that don't subscribe to a Salafist, or Wahhabi... read more »

Clinton/Obama Foreign Policy
By Christian Milord | 04/27/08
Out on the campaign trail, Senators Clinton and Obama have made it abundantly clear that their objective is to usher in "change" and government "solutions" into every nook and cranny of our lives. If elected president, either one would attempt to fashion a nanny state the likes of which we have never experienced in our history. This state would be crafted by a tax hike on higher income taxpayers, and the effect would be a reduction in our... read more »

Jimmy Carter's Revisionist Reality
By Christian Milord | 04/21/08
Traditionally, ex-president's usually refrain from actions that run counter to current American foreign policy. However, with Jimmy Carter tradition flies out the window as he seizes every opportunity to rail against Pres. Bush and Israel, yet he lets terrorists and fascists off the hook.On the plus side, Carter helped to mediate the Egyptian-Israeli treaty in 1978. He has also done some humanitarian work since his... read more »

Antithesis of America
By Christian Milord | 04/20/08
How would Senator Clinton, or Sen. Obama govern if either were elected as 44th president? Their favorite sound bites revolve around change, empowerment, solutions, future vision, etc. However, an inspection of their voting philosophy makes it easier to visualize what Clinton, or Obama would foist on Americans if either contender won a term in the Oval Office.Although they appeal to different voting blocs,... read more »

Obama's erroneous linkage
By Christian Milord | 04/12/08
From time to time on the campaign trail, Sen. Obama attempts to create a linkage between the costs of Operation Iraqi Freedom and an economic downturn at home. This is the similar convoluted logic that's spun by left wing organizations such as MoveOn.org. Obama's reasoning is often based on hyperbole rather than sound facts on the ground, which translates into an erroneous assumption. The primary mission of Congress and the Executive is to... read more »
