BIOGRAPHY
A founding investor in Red County, as of early 2009 Chip Hanlon became its CEO after being approached by the other investors to take it over and put the site where they believed it should be: among the most elite and powerful political websites in existence. The substantial re-design of the site in March was the first step in this process.
Also currently the President of Delta Global Advisors and the founder of greenfaucet.com, Chip Hanlon is regularly featured in the national media for his global economic viewpoints, and he formerly served for 3 years as a contributing writer for Real Money, the subscription service from TheStreet.com.
Previously, Hanlon has served as the C.O.O. and Chief Domestic Strategist at Euro Pacific Capital, as the President of Unfunds, Inc., and as Vice President of Investments and Syndicate Manager with Sutro & Co. He started his career as a research assistant on the international desk at Oppenheimer in 1993 while completing his studies of political science at UCLA.
In addition, Mr. Hanlon is the past-Editor of the Unfundamentals Market Newsletter, a current member of American Mensa, a founding investor in Red County Magazine and was on the budget task force of Bill Simon, 2002 Republican candidate for governor in the state of California. He has carried NASD Series 3, 4, 7, 8, 24, 66, 86 & 87 licenses.

My Discussion of NY-23 with Newt Gingrich
By Chip Hanlon | 10/30/09
By now, Red County readers should know all about the special election battle being waged in New York's 23rd Congressional district. Perhaps one of the most stunning developments of this entire process was when Newt Gingrich bucked the surging Hoffman tide and instead endorsed the RINO, Scozzafava. Well, I got the chance to discuss this with Newt just yesterday... click the button below to listen: A couple more things about... read more »

By Chip Hanlon | 10/30/09
So, in other words, less than 10% of the House's membership is being looked at for ethics violations (6.9%, to be precise). Well, isn't that nice: Dozens in Congress Under Ethics Inquiry read more »

Re-Design Pushed Back to Late Next Week
By Chip Hanlon | 10/30/09
In last week's Red County Recap, we mentioned that a homepage facelift was coming. That's true, but as we rolled into this week, yours truly had a little revelation: it would be pretty silly of us to unveil a re-design just days before an important election. Thus, we're pushing it back to after next week's election day; it's all ready to go, but look for that facelift late next week instead. By the way: not receiving the Red County Recap,... read more »

John Garamendi for Lt. Governor!!
By Chip Hanlon | 10/29/09
So, you're thinking, 'Hanlon, you idiot: he already is the Lt. Governor.' Um, right. That's the point: let's keep him there. I don't need to write another word about this race because our Matt Mitchell just wrote a great summary of what's happening in the race for California's 10th Congressional District. Bottom line: if GOP nominee, David Harmer, can pull off the upset, we won't inflict Garamendi on Washington and he'll stay... read more »

Last Call: Conversation with David Harmer, GOP Nominee for CA-10
By Chip Hanlon | 10/29/09
California Republicans have a shot at pulling off a stunning upset: in what should be a safe Demcrat district and a sitting Lt. Governor as the Left's nominee, recent polls say that Republican David Harmer is within the margin of error in CA's 10th. He's closing hard and might be able to pull off this miracle, but he needs your help. Listen to this podcast and you'll hear he's the real deal. After that, go directly to www.HarmerForCongress.com... read more »

Weren't Healthcare Hearings Going to be Seen on C-Span, Mr President?
By Chip Hanlon | 10/28/09
Yeah, right. In the category of 'politicians will say anything to get elected,' that is a promise Barack Obama made in 2008, that "...we'll have the negotiations televised on C-Span so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who is, who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies." Uh, huh... those awful drug and insurance companies, yada... read more »

Chris Matthews Will Get Right on This-- Not
By Chip Hanlon | 10/28/09
Remember how Chris Matthews just loved to rail about, among many other things, how "secretive" the Bush Administration was? Well, the new President and his minions have already shunned FOIA requests, Congress, the media and everyone in between, but have you heard a peep out of any leading journalists on the Left? A terrific new Washington Times op-ed by Quin Hillyer shows how closed and defiant the new administration has... read more »
