BIOGRAPHY
A founding investor in Red County, as of early 2009 Chip Hanlon became its CEO after being approached by the other investors to take it over and put the site where they believed it should be: among the most elite and powerful political websites in existence. The substantial re-design of the site in March was the first step in this process.
Also currently the President of Delta Global Advisors and the founder of greenfaucet.com, Chip Hanlon is regularly featured in the national media for his global economic viewpoints, and he formerly served for 3 years as a contributing writer for Real Money, the subscription service from TheStreet.com.
Previously, Hanlon has served as the C.O.O. and Chief Domestic Strategist at Euro Pacific Capital, as the President of Unfunds, Inc., and as Vice President of Investments and Syndicate Manager with Sutro & Co. He started his career as a research assistant on the international desk at Oppenheimer in 1993 while completing his studies of political science at UCLA.
In addition, Mr. Hanlon is the past-Editor of the Unfundamentals Market Newsletter, a current member of American Mensa, a founding investor in Red County Magazine and was on the budget task force of Bill Simon, 2002 Republican candidate for governor in the state of California. He has carried NASD Series 3, 4, 7, 8, 24, 66, 86 & 87 licenses.

The Stimulus Isn't Working: We Must Need More!
By Chip Hanlon | 11/06/09
We all know the well-worn wopper that the stimlus package was going to help keep unemployment from rising above 8%. Well, that one looks sillier every time we get an employment report. Today's, in case you didn't see it, crossed the psychological 10% mark: Unemployment rate hits 10.2% in October Of course, government unemployment numbers are like its inflation numbers: they're, um, subject to interpretation. I'm not suggesting... read more »

By Chip Hanlon | 11/05/09
It's Jim DeMint vs. the establishment, that's how it's shaking out. The NRSC and the rest of the establishment backed Charlie Crist in Florida; Senator Jim DeMint backed Marco Rubio. The NRCC and the rest of the establishment in Washington backed Democrat-endorsing, Card Check-backing Dede Scozzafava in NY-23; DeMint endorsed Doug Hoffman. Then, this week DeMint got the jump on the establishment in California by backing Chuck Devore, while... read more »

Carly Rushes Her Announcement
By Chip Hanlon | 11/04/09
This might be a first: unless my eyes deceive me, Carly Fiorina formally announced her Senate candidacy on the O.C. Register's editorial page this morning. The paper may have Chuck DeVore to thank for that development because it's clear Carly's rushing her announcement to take the news cycle away from last night's endorsement of DeVore by the GOP's brightest light in the Senate, Jim DeMint. Reportedly, what was supposed to... read more »

Breaking Late Tuesday: DeMint Endorses Chuck DeVore
By Chip Hanlon | 11/03/09
In what can only be described as a tremendous boost for Chuck DeVore and his bid for the GOP Senate nomination in California, tonight he picked up the endorsement of the Senate's leading conservative, Senator Jim DeMint. DeMint has been the most prominent D.C. insider who has consistently been on what conservatives would consider the side of the angels, having already backed Marco Rubio in Florida and tonight's headliner, Doug Hoffman in... read more »

By Chip Hanlon | 11/03/09

Cash for Clunkers Actual Cost: $24,000 per Car
By Chip Hanlon | 11/02/09
On top of David Bahnsen's article here about the per-job cost of the President's $800 Billion stimulus package, I thought I'd pass along this little lovely about the true cost of Cash for Clunkers, in case you missed it. Auto industry research firm, Edmunds, says the program actually cost $24,000 per car! In summary: the administration loves to tout the 690,000 vehicles sold in July and August, but the Edmunds report says that only... read more »

Showing Her True Colors, Scozzafava Endorses the Democrat
By Chip Hanlon | 11/01/09
Boy, now all those Republicans who endorsed Dede Scozzafava are looking particularly foolish for having saddled us with this loser. Why? In all-too-classic act of vindictiveness, she endorsed the Democrat, Owens in the NY-23 race she just dropped out of: Scozzafava Endorses Owens So much for this statement, which this troll made just yesterday in announcing her withdrawal from the race: "I am and have... read more »
