prop 8 causes domestic assault offender to attack a senior citizen!!!

Posted by: Inga Barks | 10/28/2008 9:14 PM

Vandalism and theft of signs. An SUV parked in front of a house for three days where the homeowners had a  YES on 8 sign, on  the SUV was painted "Bigots live here" . Kindergarteners taken to a lesbian wedding without parental permission in San Fransisco. Kindergarteners included in "coming out week" in Hayward. In Bakersfield the chair of the Yes on 8 (a 55 year old gentleman) is attacked and defends himself against a 21 year old "NO" supporter with a reported conviction for domestic violence and an accusation of assault on a 17 year old just the night before. And today, a Fresno pastor awoke to find his home had been egged. As had his office. As had his sanctuary.

NO on 8 ads say there's no gay agenda for our schools. They lie. Activists say they are peaceful. They are not. They demand tolerance which they do not give. And the media some how makes these guys into the victims. Hows does a domestic abuser attack a man twice his age and the reports make him the victim of a crime?

Amazing times. If prop 8 fails, the agenda will have just begun.

That's terrible! People need to be peaceful at all times. I'm very worried about Prop 8. Look at sites like this: http://RavagedFaces.com/

You're all right - the big bad gay wolf is out there, just waiting to jump. Seriously, you're trying to take away rights given by the CONSTITUTION - and you don't expect people to react? You don't expect anger and frustration, sadness and activism? what world do you live in anyway?

YOu convinced me! I'm convinced! I forgot this is a democracy where we vote based upon intimidation, supression, vandalism, and violence. You are sooooo right. activists broke the law to get married, sued the state, and 4 judges said that gay marriage is a "right". That sounds SO much like democracy! And of course, judges have the final word.......uh oh......that means we should still have slavery because the US Supreme Court upheld it. eek....what to do, what to do? Welp, I guess I'll vote, rather than your new fangled 21st century "violence, intimidation, and vandalism" route. Call me old fashioned and traditional!

so funny said:

it's so great the republican judges are 'blamed' for upholding the constitution - just has the same court had done with inter-racial marriage. talk about intimidation, maybe you should talk to your yeson8 crowd about the letters they sent to businesses, the churches threatening excommunication (i spoke with followers and yeson8 supporters this past weekend and this came out of THEIR mouths)...no one said vandalism or violence is 'okay' but to expect people to just kneel down down and say 'yes, master...yes, master' only proves how 'old fashioned' and 'traditional' you are. are you proud that marriage was built on the woman being the man's property? is this what you want your daughter to learn? are you proud that the bible dictates that any woman who is widowed and childless must sleep with her dead husband's brothers until she is with child - is this what you are promoting? yes, traditional and old fashioned - EXACTLY what you are, no arguement here ;)

wow! You know so little about the bible. YOu really shouldn't use it to argue your point. Having said that, and with all due respect, I have to go to bed because I have three BOYS and two jobs. But I enjoy your comments. Very quickly......if my words are equally intimidating as vandalizing and throwing punches, well, you really have a perverted view of intimidation. As for the judges, I could give a rip about thier party affiliation. I don't work that way. I care about their votes. And their 3 cohorts said that they were wrong to be activists and create NEW law.
As for the Yes on 8 letters, I agree with you! I would'nt do that crud. You know what else I wouldn't do? Harrass, protest outside of, and encourage threats of violence against churches and businesses that suppport 8. NO on 8 has so much as threatened churches! Stood outside businesses! Even better, NO people have camped out in front of houses and harassed YES people......oh, but your guys do sign off on that. Cool beans! Why vote? You guys know what's best and you'll beat it into us! Classy classy folk.

maybe I'm late to the party - what does having 3 BOYS (all caps) and 2 jobs have to do with anything on this post?

We in Florida are seeing the same thing. A Baptist Church in Venice, Florida was vandalized this week. The Church had "Vote Yes on Amendment 2" on its Church banner. Amendment 2 would place in the Florida Constitution the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman. Vandals spray painted the sign with red paint. The Church was founded 50 years ago. This is the only instance of vandalism in its history.

These people who oppose defining marriage as between a man and a woman are dangerous, radical and anarchists. We hope the two men who were seen spray painting the sign are caught soon and brought to justice.

yes, these 'activists' are very dangerous! Ha Ha! As IF either 'side' is free of blame! get off your high horse - all of you. If you're not sure how to vote on prop 8, I'll make it easy for you:
1. don't change the constitution
2. the world has not come to halt since the 11,000+ gays got married
3. all yes on 8 signs were made in China - all the no on 8 signs were made in the US by union workers: support the US economy and workers!

I'm partly to blame. I was late in getting this song to Ken Mettler. It's my weapon of mass construction. I take it with me whenever I'm in the midst of hateful No on 8 folks.

If blasted from a ghetto blaster, could have scared the No on 8 kid away before the confrontation even took place.

NOt sure all of your points. They weren't entiorely lucid. But I do agree that there is probably some agression on the "YES" side as well. I just don't see much of it. But every day the stories of threats, intimidation and violence against supporters of Porp 8 mount . Sunday there was a pro-marriage rally in Fresno. Monday morning the pastor who lead the event woke up to his home vandelized and his historic church building vandalized as well. A couple days later a "fake" anthrax pacjage was sent to the congressman who spoke at the rally. And today (Thursday) the Fresno PD opened an investigation into a death threat that went to city hall, threatening the life of the maypr who attended the rally, the pastor who lead it, and DEATH to his congregation. It's really tragic when the people shouting that their civil rights are being taken would continue to set out to intimidate, threat, and violate the civil rights of the YES on 8 folk.

Intimidation, threats and Civil Rights violations are and always have been the tools of the right. This is so obviously, painfully true that one could just about safely bet that all or most of Inga's post is pure fantasy. Care to provide some references, or is this just a fantasy parade of the ridiculous right, once again?

sorry I haven't written back, dirty shirt. I am certain by now, genius that you are, you have seen or heard the news reports I cited. If not....read a little.
To th earlier writer who asked what my 3 boys had to do with it; nothing. Sorry. I was just apologizing for a breif response and poor grammar because I was distracted by bedtime and all the needs of three smelly boys.
Have a good one, all!

I'm so glad that we have blogs and now we have records of who is on the wrong side of history - YAY - now we can go back to you in 10 years and interview your bigoted selves.

Great job putting 18,000 marriages in limbo and either way, if your stupid discrimination gets into the constituion (the lamest thing ever) then you're segregating everyone...great job! You should definitely celebrate! I'm so happy for you! The rest of the nation and the world now thinks CA is dumb...then again, with people like you.....it is? CT surely made all of you look like fools - and now you expect those 'radical,' 'activist' judges to be on your side? good one - even your republican govenator isn't...you all crack me up!

Sandra! Thanks for writing. I want to encourage you to keep it up. Your side is REALLY convincing us, what with your violence, vandalism and name calling. Very very persuasive if you look at history. Worked for Moa, Pol Pot, Stalin.....very convincing.
You have a real problem in saying that a decade from now I will be shown to be a bigot. Because today you are suggesting that the people are wrong in voting FOR prop 8. So, if the people vote FOR gay marriage in ten years, who's to say they aren't wrong again? YOU? Are YOU the arbitor of truth?
I am certain there are very sincere people who disagree with me. You don't strike me as one of them. But if you are, then I tell you most sincerely that the only way we can look back in ten years and identify people like me as having been wrong on this issue, is if you prove God is a liar. Your argument is with Him, not me. If He is lying, prove it to me and I will turn my back on Him and support you. Otherwise, whether I be in the majority or mionority, I stand firm.

Inga,
Interesting your name is Inga 'barks'...hmmm...You'll need to explain the God part - unless you're suggesting he speaks to you, which would require a whole other discussion not having anything to do with prop 8 or gays...or sanity. Or you're suggesting the Bible (the ONLY religious work) is the reason why - have you actually read - it is your reason for voting yes? Do you follow everything 'God' supposedly wrote (although there are other authors I believe...)? If so, let me know when we should corrale all those who have married divorcees, or have committed adultery, or have eaten shell fish. We could meet and stone them to death. And YES - ABSOLUTELY those who voted YES on 8 are DEAD WRONG - and you are on the wrong side of history.

If you're going to go down the (illogical) route of 'homosexuality is a choice' then why didn't we go back to 'traditional' marriage of this country when it was only between white, property-owning people and women were the sexual property of their husbands? At the very least, if we're saying who we 'choose' to love is up for a vote on its 'legitimacy' then let's at least go back to not allowing interacial marriage (they may not be able to choose their ethinicity but they too can certainly choose who they love) - we can go back and use almost all of the same arguments that were used to keep that outlawed to outlaw both that AND gay marriage today!

Finally, we should definitely forget the role of the courts in all of this. We should forget that without them women, blacks and inter-racial couples would not have the ability to vote - marry. And I know...how DARE the gay-rights movement even remotely compare their plight to the (I love this next word) noble civil rights cause....yes, because we should definitely look at how we can rank suffering and discrimination. We should maybe even award points so that we know who has it worst (I'm guessing that will go to the black lesbian)...but just to be certain, let's create a heirarchy of suffering - that's a productive use of time AND it will move this discussion forward.

Thanks, Inga - keep barking (up the wrong tree).
