GOPers Vote for Tax Increase

Posted by: An Insider | 09/18/2008 6:36 AM

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...... it is a duck.  A "surcharge" is a tax and "bonds" are a debt.

The city council of the City of Bakersfield voted to create a new 1% tax on utilities to help fund roads.  The new tax is expected to raise $3.2 million dollars annually from the Average Joe taxpayer to provide collateral for anticipated future road debt.

Republicans Jacquie Sullivan, Zack Scrivner, Ken Weir, and Harold Hanson voted for the tax increase.
