Cal-Tax sells out

California keeps getting worse because people become so desperate to fix something, they give on things they know are right, or they ignore reality. I was bummed to read that the California Taxpayers Association has endorsed Arnie's budget, and the "temporary" sales tax increase that is part of it. They say "Given the current circumstances, however, we can support a temporary sales tax
increase as long as it is accompanied by meaningful budget reform, an economic
stimulus plan and a future reduction in the sales tax rate that will make the
change a net tax reduction over time."
There is not meaningful budget reform. There is no "economic stimulus". And yeah, riiiiiiigght! they will reduce taxes more in the future! See, not now, but later, they will figure out how to balance the budget even with a tax cut. I can't think of any response to that which does not involve cursing, sorry.
