Oh, the humanity! Arnie goes for the tax increase

What many have predicted has happened: Gov. Schwarzenegger has proposed a tax hike to balance the state's budget.
Oh, yeah, it will be "temporary" and "tied to long term spending reforms." Yeah, right. Temporary taxes are like unicorns, nice to think about for some folks, but fantasy nonetheless. Long term reforms???!!!! Arnie has tried that move over and over and been beaten down every time.
Meanwhile, as my colleague George points out, the common sense, everyday, "kitchen table economics" approaches to both new revenue for the state and reducing spending, keep getting ignored.

So true.
Remember, Willie Brown said the increase in the sales tax from 6% to 7.25% would go to law enforcement. Oops, it went to welfare.
If anyone believes in a "temporary' tax...then I have some swamp land for you.
