CD47 Watch: Do Sanchez Ties To Federally-Investigated Lobbyist Bother The OC Democratic Party?

A couple of weeks ago, the Democratic Party of Orange County sent yet another letter to Rep. John Campbell, calling on him to return any campaign contributions from Diane Harkey, due to the brou-haha over Dan Harkey's company.

As I've blogged previously (here and here), if the DPOC is so worried about avoiding even the perception of tainted contributions, then shouldn't the housecleaning begin at home? The DPOC could immensely fortify its moral perch by calling on Rep. Loretta Sanchez to return the contributions she has received from clients of the PMA Group defense-lobbying firm.

As readers may recall, PMA Group is under federal investigation for funneling fraudulent campaign contributions to congressional lawmakers (including Rep. Loretta Sanchez, who serves on the Military Personnel, Strategic Forces, and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittees). In fact, their offices were raided by the FBI.

One of PMA's clients was Anaheim-based L3 Communications, which was Sanchez' third-largest contributor last year (H/T Latino Politics Blog). In fact, Sanchez has raked in $277,118 from PMA group clients over the years. that's according to a spreadsheet put together by the Sunlight Foundation -- not exactly a member of the "vast right-wing conspiracy."

Now, I realize calling on Loretta to return more than $277,000 in contribution, but if the DPOC thinks lawmakers ought to return contributions derived from "questionable circumstances" then consistency demands the same request be directed at Loretta Sanchez.
