Border Security: A Key Reason Why I Have Endorsed Meg Whitman

The following is a RedCounty.com EXCLUSIVE:

In my time in Congress, I have made safeguarding our nation’s borders a top priority. An unsecured border puts our nation at unacceptable risk.

Legal immigration is part of the fabric of California’s rich history. But illegal immigration threatens to undermine our security. We must restore the integrity of our nation's borders and reestablish respect for our immigration laws.

I am supporting Meg Whitman for Governor because she is a proven leader who focuses on finding solutions to crucial issues such as illegal immigration. She understands that California can no longer afford to look the other way. And she recognizes that, more than any border governor, it is the Governor of California who commands the strongest position to influence the federal government to act to stem illegal immigration.

Meg Whitman will be exactly the kind of outspoken advocate we need.

As Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade, I believe that when it comes to immigration policy, national security should be our main priority. This is why I am focused on a sound border enforcement plan.

Knowing of the border vulnerabilities America faces, I cosponsored the Secure Fence Act, and strongly supported it when it passed by overwhelming majorities in the House and Senate.

We need a Governor who will forcefully push for federal vigilance to keep our borders safe, including deploying enough border patrol agents and building physical barriers. Whitman will do that.

We cannot ignore the steep challenge our employers face when verifying the legal status of their employees. I am an original cosponsor of the Secure America with Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act. The goal is to help stop the lure of illegal immigration by implementing mandatory work authorization verification. We must provide employers the tools and resources necessary to enforce immigration laws. And those who knowingly hire illegal immigrants should face sanctions.

As I do, Whitman believes there must be accountability in the system and employers must have access to a vigorous and reliable system for verifying their workers’ eligibility.

Once and for all, we need coordinated state and federal action to crack down on sanctuary cities that make a mockery of our immigration laws.

It is unconscionable that major California cities, including San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles, continue to flagrantly ignore the law with impunity. Like me, Meg believes the concept of sanctuary cities flies in the face of a society ruled by law. It is untenable that criminals who entered the U.S. illegally can be allowed to roam free to victimize law-abiding Californians.

In July 2008, a criminal gang member and convicted felon here illegally killed a San Francisco father and his two sons during a traffic altercation. But under San Francisco’s sanctuary policy, because he was a juvenile felon, he was never turned over to immigration authorities for deportation. Instead, he murdered.

Unbelievably, earlier this month, the city’s Board of Supervisors voted overwhelmingly to prohibit city law enforcement from handing over undocumented juveniles arrested for felonies to federal authorities. The law says the city only will turn them over if they are convicted.

Meg Whitman, as I do, refuses to accept these extraordinarily blatant violations of federal law that jeopardize the public’s safety.

We need a leader like Meg Whitman in Sacramento who will advocate for an immigration policy that first and foremost protects our borders.

I feel like I just ate a slice of Wonder bread. Air is whipped into the bleached white wheat dough. I didn't know that Ed had the recipe.

Meg is not for me!

Let's see--this may not be good news for Meg. Royce endorsed Guilianni for prez, Arnold for Governor--good choice ed):, and has made several other less than stellar endorsements for wealthy candidates who make worthless promises.

Whitman is not my candidate. There isn't much in common between corporate success and successfully working with theCalifornia legislature. Why does she have to start her political career at the top of the ticket? What about Education, Insurance, Lt. Governor, or State Senator where she could learn what California politics is all about.

Jeez, this is a woman who couldn't even show up at the polls every other year.

Please

So, Meg supports securing our borders' huh? Is this another attempt to show us all that Meg is a real conservative and not a RINO? Please!

This is an empty talking point as far as I'm concerned. How can she be for securing the borders when she supports social welfare for those in the country illegally?

To solve the illegal immigration problem in America we need to remove the incentive to come here! No amnesty, No welfare, No college tuition grants, No drivers licenses, No tax-payer funded government Handouts!

Get with it Meg! Can we get a real Republican to run for Governor please?

Anonymous: I met Dave from

Anonymous: I met Dave from your organization a few nights ago. Nice guy, just wish you weren't such a marketing arm of the Paulistas... didn't realize that was the case. By the way, you should be careful whose articles you post on the Campaign for Liberty website. Gary North isn't exactly a credible voice... dig a little deeper on that one.

Chip - his points about Whitman were valid

the fact that you attacked him as a Paulista and did not address his points calls into question whether or not you've already chosen your guv candidate. --- Whitman needs to be scrutinized as she is trying to substitute money for campaign issues.

Aaron: my comment had nothing

Aaron: take a look at where that commenter's name links to. My own comment had nothing to do with this governor's race at all and everything to do with the Paulistas, whom everyone here with 1/10 of a brain knows I have issues with. I have warned you before about accusing this site of being biased or set on one candidate-- we have been nothing but fair and are in routine contact with all the campaigns. Now you did it with me directly. This is your last warning: do it again and bye-bye, big mouth-- you'll write elsewhere. What's most disgusting about your rotten remark is that there is no one in the world history who has been more in the tank for a candidate than you are for your guy. At the moment, it's the only reason I might not want to pull for your guy--because I am so bleeping sick of your gas.

Congressman, this is a Joke, Right?

I know you can't stand Steve Poizner.

That's fine - but Whitman on the borders? In the SF Chron and LA Times when asked about benefits for illegal aliens she said "There's children involved" as in she would not stop the almost $10billion a year in benefits for non-citizens.

Either you didn't vet her or you've repeated drivel from her campaign staff.

This is disappointing.

Another Rino

I'm sorry Congressman but I can't support her. She is to far left for my taste and will fall right in line with the wishes of the folks in Sacramento, a lot like Arnie did.

She's just another Rino. When are the Rebublicans going to get some real candidates?

Endorse Someone Who Will Save This State

What a waste of an endorsment.

Whitman would be more of a disaster for California than the wildfires.

Why not endorse a good candidate Chelene Nightingale who will  do more than promise anything just to get voted into office.  Chelene is the only one who will keep her promises and get the job done.  She is a breath of fresh air in that she is not politics as usual.  She really cares about what happens to this state and the citizens of California.  If we keep voting in candidates who are looking out for their own interests, this state will be gone.  Nightingale will save this state so it does not wind up looking like the state of Michigan.  Michigan now looks like a ghost town.

illegals

Many years ago the supreme court said that it was illegal for the police to do a random vehicle pull over just because. I was caught in one in North Carolina with a car tagged out of Florida. But the court said that it is OK to do a complete all vehicle pull over. Using that as an argument, why not surround all Home Depots and everybody not driving a car has to produce ID. No ID, off you go. It is not a random, it is a targeted search.

What Kind Of Research Did He Conduct

before endorsing this neocon??  Just yesterday I read Whitma's interview in the San Diego Tribune and she stressed LEGALIZING illegal aliens!!  She is just like her buddy McCain - "Secure the borders AFTER legalizing 20 million criminal aliens."  Some of you may be fooled, but the rest of us are really researching these candidates this time.  The days of all talk are over!!

Oh by the way, Whitman also wants to increase H1b Visas...video on YT.

Did Ed Actually Do His Research Before Endorsing

Whitman the RINO?  Sure she wants to secure our borders.  Right after she legalizes 20 million illegal aliens.  Just this week in the San Diego Tribune, Whitman declared we needed to legalize all the illegals.  Look it up.  And has everyone forgotten her love for Van Jones?  Or the fact that she wants to increase H1B Visas.  It is all online for all to review.  Just research.

MEG WHITMAN IS ANOTHER ARNOLD,VOTE NIGHTINGALE!

How come I am NOT surprised that ED ROYCE is another "NEOCON" (a phoney conservative that puts PARTY LOYALITY FIRST & COUNTRY LAST) that comes out and openly endorses a fellow "NEOCON" Meg Whitman!?!

Let the republican party die a natural death! (and the socialistic democrats for that matter)and out of the charred embers NEW political parties will emerge.

ONE political party already has! It is the CONSTITUTION PARTY ...(www.constitutionparty.com)and, it already is the FASTEST GROWING political party in America and, the THIRD LARGEST political party in America, per 'Ballot Access News'. The CP puts AMERICA FIRST! In California, it's state affiliate is the:

AMERICAN INDEPENDENT PARTY  (www.aipcalif.blogspot.com)      CHELENE NIGHTINGALE is the AIP/CP candidate for Governor in 2010. (www.nightingaleforgovernor.com)

Chelene will protect our California border with Mexico, and put California & America FIRST. Chelene is a long time activist in stopping illegal immigration, protecting the border, releasing Ramos/Compean, END THE FED, NO MED FED, Tea Parties and Town Hall Meetings. Chelene will REALLY end the WA$TE,FRAUD, & ABU$E in Sacramento. Voting for Meg Whitman is a REAL WASTED vote. She has already come out and supports "comprehensive immigration reform'...aka: AMNESTY! Her power elite buddies are John McCain & Arnold...amnesty promoters. Don't be fooled again!
