Ann Granados, long-time Republican Advocate, Dies

Ann Granados, beloved Republican advocate died on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at her home in Ocean City. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Luis Granados; five children and 10 grandchildren.
Everyone in Maryland politics who knew Ann, respected and admired her - something rare in politics today. As a long-time Republican activist, she served as the Chairman of the Worcester County Central Committee for six years, the President of the Maryland Federation of Women, and the President of the Republican Woman of Worcester County. She was a delegate to the 2004 Republican National Convention and a member of the 2004 Electoral College. She was the Worcester County Coordinator of the Ehrlich for Governor campaigns of 2002 and 2006 and served as a volunteer coordinator for all of former Republican Congnressman Wayne Gilchrest's campaigns.
In the early 1980s, she led the charge to create a secondary dune system for Ocean City. Her commitment to Ocean City's dune restoration resulted in awards that included the Governor's Volunteer Award for Dune Stabilization; Outstanding Contributor Award from the Maryland Association of Conservation Districts; Commendation Award from the Worcester County Commissioners and numerous Certificates of Appreciationf from the Town of Ocean City.
Ann's family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to the Coastal Hospice at P. O Box 1733, Salisbury, Maryland 21804.
