Watch the Youtube clip below, note that there is no mention of climate change or global warming in this Environmental Defense Fund’s video thank you to Frank Kratovil for voting aye on Waxman-Markey.

Perhaps that is because the bill was never about the earth’s climate as the latest satellite data reveals the planet’s continuing cooling trend over the last decade (more than .74 degrees Fahrenheit since Al Gore released An Inconvenient Truth.)  Proponents know that the scheme would bring about a meaningless one-nine hundredth of a degree change in temperature over the next century, in return for benefits of a near $10 trillion drag on GDP, 2 million jobs destroyed, and 90% increase in electricity rates, among other economic woes. Rather the bill is an environmentalists’ delight and rent-seekers dream, in other words, a sellout to politically favored special interests.

The League of Conservation Voters was so vested in passage of Waxman-Markey that it took the unprecedented step of pulling down the warm and fuzzy façade surrounding its hard ball political tactics, to provide is with the real reason Kratovil voted to for Waxman-Markey:

In light of the tremendous importance of this legislation [Waxman-Markey], LCV has made the unprecedented decision that the organization will not endorse any member of the House of Representatives in the 2010 election cycle who votes against final passage of this bill.  Every Member of Congress received a letter informing them of this policy and LCV’s strong support for H.R.2454 on Tuesday, June 23.

What the LCV doesn’t provide in campaign cash, it makes up for in campaign volunteers, who make such dutiful door-knocking foot soldiers.
