After three rounds of voting, the CRA will not be endorsing anyone in the race to win the 72nd Assembly District, as no one got 2/3 in the 3 rounds of balloting.

With 18 delegates, 12 were necessary to gain the CRA endorsement.  4 CRA units were represented: Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange-Villa Park, and Yorba Ranch.

Each unit had 5 delegates, so there were 2 delegates who did not make it to the endorsement convention.

The lobbying was intense before this endorsement, as yesterday alone, I received five phone calls and had one meeting from just one side alone!

Round 1

Ackerman: 10
Norby: 8

Round 2
Ackerman: 9
Norby: 9

Round 3
Norby: 9
Ackerman: 8
Not Cast: 1

Sounds Like

Sounds like the Ackerman camp did some heavy lobbying or strong arming and that it wore off a bit with each round of votes. norby is a smart guy and knows the issues and he manged to block a CRA nod to his opponent. Im sure the two votes that switched to Norby didnt like the carpet bagging of Ackerman.

Actually, Paul, by my reading

Actually, Paul, by my reading of the post, only one switched from Ackerman to Norby, as Norby only increased from 8 votes to 9 votes.

Character Counts

Having the best command of the issues is critical but should not outweigh character and personal integrity.  Kudos to CRA for not endorsing a candidate.

Character Counts

Having the strongest command of the issues is critical but should not outweigh character and personal integrity.   People can't compartmentalize.  They are who they are.  Kudos to CRA for not endorsing this candidate.

Character(s)

I respectfully disagree Mr(s) Hobbs. If you are citing the character of Linda Ackerman or lack there of of Chris Norby for criteria to run for the GOP nomination for this seat, I would question your stance on Linda Carpetbagging into the district. By my reading the posts of this race I have come to two conclusions:

A. Linda Ackerman is a puppet candidate so her husband can regain the power he had in the assembly via his wife.

B. Linda is running to further the grude match between Mr Ackerman and Chris Norby.

Neither of these motives shows a character quality I would like to see in a representative in my district. I am supporting my friend John MacMurray in this race. Unfortunately I think he will be eliminated fromt he race by the high Republican regeistration. I hope he can pull a hail mary but the odds are against him. That being said, I know Chris Norby has some eccentricities about him but I have always known him to be a straight forward sincere person in his positions and beliefs. Even if I disagree with him in many areas.
