Eight years after the worst attack on American, in which more than 2750 people died, we pause to remember those who lives were cut by the most barbaric act perpetrated on American soil.

But rather than just watching solemn ceremonies on TV, or attending a local moment of silence, let us join together and turn an act of evil into an act of good. I urge you to check out Serve.gov, punch in your zip code and volunteer in your community.

I'm also thankful for our military men and women, our police and firefighters as well as everyday hero's who don't wear uniforms.
