Six of Mousavi's supporters were reporteldy hanged in the holy city of Mashhad on Monday. This news comes as Iranian government officials warned that protests over the disputed election, now declared official, would be met with harsh consquences.

Several thousand policemen and Basij militiamen took to the streets on Monday with batons to prevent further protests. Drivers who honked their horns in support of the oppositions had their windows smashed by riot police.
