Fourteen people are scheduled to be publicly hanged tomorrow in Iran. They were convicted of "fighting against God" which translates to fighting against Iran's ruling authority. "Morahrebe" is the term used to describe their crimes.
In 2008, a blogger named Yaqub Mehrnehab was executed for his morahrebe "crime" after being tried by a revolutionary court. The trial, of course, was closed to the public.
39 human beings have been executed since the beginning of July and a spokesperson for Iran Human Rights says that the executions are designed to strike fear in the Iranian people following the pro-democracy demonstrations.
